The Greatest Sins of the World Chapter 19 The Greatest Sins of the World In chapter 19 we are reminded that we often pass through times of spiritual hardship. In this chapter we see the parallels between Jesus' firstcomings and the misunderstandings that caused people to miss it with the incorrect interpretation of prophecy around 1844. As we continue this journey through the book Great Controversy, may your minds be broadened and your understanding of Scripture be deepened as We see this cosmic conflict and the role that we have to play today. In this chapter we see outlined that no 1 can ever fully understand the plan of redemption. Even the prophets of old who were given special illumination by the Holy Spirit did not fully comprehend the messages they were given, even though they did earnestly endeavor to grasp what they had been shown.

Whilst the mind of man can never fully comprehend the purposes of God, it is often down to error or neglect why the messages of God are not fully understood. We see this in particular with Daniel 9 at the time of Jesus' first coming. [♪ music ♪ When Jesus came the first time, He announced Himself with a declaration in Mark 1 verse 15. The time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is at hand. The 69 weeks of Daniel chapter 9 began with the decree to restore and build Jerusalem and extended up until Messiah the Prince.

And the people took this prophecy and applied it as they wanted to, not as they ought to. Believing that Jesus would deliver them from their earthly bondage to the Romans, they were greatly disappointed when they saw Him hanging on a cross between 2 thieves. [♪ music ♪ Jesus had come in the exact time and manner foretold, but it was their understanding as to what the kingdom of God was that they got wrong. The kingdom of God is used in the Bible to describe both the kingdom of grace and the kingdom of glory. The kingdom of grace was instituted in Eden after man fell and was established at Calvary.

This provision for the sins of men is exactly what mankind needed, but at the time not what he wanted. The kingdom of glory will be established at the second coming when Jesus comes in all his glory with all his holy angels. [♪ music ♪ The disciples needed, as do we, to develop an intelligent faith, 1 that clearly grasps the depth and full meaning of the prophetic truths we have before us. The disciples failed to grasp the passages they read and missed that other things needed to be fulfilled first, that the passages were not describing the very end. William Miller also failed to fully understand.

He believed that the sanctuary was the earth, but a careful reading of Revelation would reveal there are many things that needed to be fulfilled prior to the return of Jesus. [♪ music ♪ Many times that God deals with us, there is a purpose in the mistakes that He allows. The mistakes test us and allow for a purification of our hearts, and they also allow for us to prove our love for God through the trials. We must ever be mindful of accepting the theories of men rather than letting the Bible speak for itself. Too often conclusions are rushed to that only reinforce previously held opinions, but if you read the Bible in its entirety we would see things differently.

May we study to show ourselves approved unto God and be careful in reaching our conclusions. ♪♪ you
