A New Devotional to Start Your Year
3m read
I had the privilege of speaking for a recent symposium on the book of Revelation entitled “Revelation for the Head and the Heart.” The meetings were held on September 2 and 3 at Lynn Wood Hall on the campus of Southern Adventist University. The other speakers included P. Gerard Damsteegt, ThD, Michael Hasel, PhD, and Kenneth Matthews Jr., MD.
From the outset of the meetings, it was clear that there was great interest in Revelation. There were several families that had traveled from three hours away. There was a good mix of students, professionals and retirees. Throughout the weekend, the meetings were well-attended. It reminded me of the energy I felt when attending meetings at Advent HOPE in Loma Linda. I enjoyed meeting people I had never met before who have listened to my presentations on AudioVerse.
Dr. Matthews offered research that affirms the original understanding of Seventh-day Adventists about the beginning of the fifth trumpet in 1299. These insights establish our understanding of the end of the sixth trumpet on August 11, 1840 and harmonize with Ellen G. White’s clear statements affirming the sixth trumpet in The Great Controversy, p. 334. Anyone who wants a better understanding of the history of the trumpets should listen to these presentations.
We were also blessed by Dr. Damsteegt’s presentations. He discussed the fulfillment of the 1260 prophecy and the peace treaty between the papacy and France in 1797 that should have prevented the deadly wound in 1798. He also discussed the conflict that led to France breaking the treaty and inflicting the deadly wound. He also discussed the rise of the Second Advent Movement and the three angels’ messages. These were excellent presentations on the more sure word of prophecy and will bless all who listen.
For the main service, Dr. Hasel gave a powerful presentation on the current activity of the papacy. He showed how prophecy is rapidly being fulfilled in Revelation 13. You will gain a fresh view on the papacy in prophecy in light of current events by listening to this presentation.
I also shared four presentations. My purpose was to make Christ and His work among Adventists practical. I discussed Christ as seen in the Sanctuary through Revelation. I also showed what it means for the mystery of God to be finished. In conclusion, we saw how Jesus is the demonstration of the third angel’s message which is why the third angel is so powerful. We finished by seeing the condition of the Laodicean church and of Christ’s remedy to transform us into the 144,000.
Ellen White says, “Those who eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of God will bring from the books of Daniel and Revelation truth that is inspired by the Holy Spirit. They will start into action forces that cannot be repressed.”
— TM 116.1
It is my prayer that the messages of this symposium will touch hearts worldwide and will have a part in inspiring many to be part of the work that will start into action forces that will lead to the coming of Jesus.
